Autechre creates a fascinating sonic world on their fifth album release, where electronic pulses and blips are used to create fantastic textural waves. Although it may be hard to take for those uninitiated into Autechre’s unique style (it’s hard to detect melodies upon first listen), you’ll discover something new with each repeated listen.
Autechre crea un fascinante mundo sónico en su quinto álbum, en donde pulsos y blips electrónicos son usados para crear fantásticas ondas texturales. Aunque puede ser difícil de asimilar para aquellos no iniciados en el estilo único de Autechre (es difícil detectar melodías a primera escucha), descubrirás algo nuevo con cada escucha repetida.

Bassist Omar Rodriguez and drummer Cedric Bixler are well known as members of the acclaimed, and now defunct band, AT THE DRIVE-IN, as well as powerhouse THE MARS VOLTA. Rooted within the realm of Dub reggae pioneers like Lee Perry and the Dr. Alimantado, DE FACTO also tampered in electronica, salsa and jazz which gave their sound a distinct, timeless quality. Critically-acclaimed, the record is a fascinating document of the musical alter-egos of some of the most influential players in post-punk/alternative rock.
El bajista Omar Rodríguez y el baterista Cedric Bixler son miembros bien conocidos de los aclamados y ya difuntos AT THE DRIVE-IN, así como de los poderosos THE MARS VOLTA. Squarepusher – Selection Sixteen (1999) [Electronica / Drill'n'Bass] February 22, 2006

Selection Sixteen alternates what sounds like outtakes from his last LP (Music Is Rotted One Note) — that is, short organic fusion cast-offs — with a set of hard-edged acid tracks, most of which chart the hyperkinetic drum’n'bass programming that fans expect. The album comes off surprisingly well, given both the glut of Squarepusher material in 1999, and the fact that Jenkinson is mixing’n'matching crazed drill’n'bass and more stately jazz-fusion, with little regard for album flow.
Selection Sixteen alterna lo que suena como tomas extras de su último LP (Music Is Rotted One Note) — es decir, cortos desechos orgánicos de fusion — con un conjunto de duras pistas ácidas, la mayoría de las cuales siguen muy de cerca la hiperquinética programación drum’n'bass que los fans esperan. El álbum sale parado bastante bien, tomando en cuenta el exceso de material de Squarepusher en 1999 y el hecho de que Jenkinson mezcla con desenfado drill’n'bass demente con un jazz-fusion más señorial, con poca consideración hacia el fluir natural del álbum.
